cab2go is operated by Advance IT Services (“we”). This notice explains what personal data we collect when you use cab2go as a passenger or driver, why, and your rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).
What we collect
- Account details: name, mobile number, optional email, password (stored encrypted), and your emergency contact if you add one.
- Location: your GPS position while the app is open, so drivers and passengers can find each other. Drivers' positions are shared with nearby passengers while online; passengers' positions are shared with their matched driver during a trip.
- Trips: pickup, stops and drop-off points, times, fares, ratings, chat messages and support requests.
- Payments: payment method and status. Card and e-wallet details are handled by our payment provider (PayMongo); we never see or store full card numbers.
- Drivers: vehicle details, plate and license numbers, and uploaded documents (license, OR/CR, photos, clearance) for verification. Your approved profile photo is shown to your passengers.
- Device: push-notification tokens and basic technical logs.
Why we use it
- To match passengers with drivers, show live locations and ETAs, and complete trips.
- To verify accounts and drivers, prevent fraud, and keep riders safe (including SOS alerts to your emergency contact and our team).
- To process payments, refunds, driver earnings and payouts.
- To answer support requests and improve the service.
Who we share it with
Only with the other party of your trip (as described above), and with service providers that help us run cab2go: SMS (Semaphore), email, payments (PayMongo), maps and routing, and our hosting provider. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
Trip and payment records are kept for as long as required by tax and accounting rules. Location updates are overwritten continuously; chat messages are kept with the trip record. Driver documents are kept while the driver account is active and for a reasonable period after.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to its processing, or withdraw consent, by contacting privacy@your-domain.ph or through Help & support in the app. You may also file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and private storage for documents. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission of any breach as the law requires.
